Hair stylist is an interesting and creative person. He/She is a expert in this field; known to dress hairs according to the latest fashion and personality of a person. They perform an important role like chemical treatment, scalp treatment, different cuts and Styles to enhance the look of a client.
In the film and entertainment world, hair stylist plays a significant role to give a different look to an actor and actress. Hair stylist decides the hair style according to the role or character of an artist playing in the film.
He/she studies face structure before hair dressing and then decide hair style; to get prefect shape he/she uses different tools like combs, hairpins, scissors, and hair-waving solutions.
In some beauty salons, barber gives different hair styles and looks, some hair stylist may have their self business, few works in hotels resort and government agencies.
Job Profile:
• Be punctual in your work and time
• Keep the budget in your mind; while ordering various tools required
• Discuss different hairstyles, dyes, bleaches, and tints with the MAKE-UP artist to decide the hair look
• Keep updating your knowledge regarding products and different services related to hairstyle profession to guide your clients
• Maintain cleanliness and always sterilize the equipment as bound by the law and the spa’s policies and procedures.
• With respect, try to solve the queries of clients by giving correct reason
• Hair stylist should have capacity to do work independently and always keep a positive approach and maintain cheerful work surroundings.
• Design different types of wigs and hairpieces and enhance their effectiveness by using different chemical treatment, dyes and colors
• Some hairdressers and hairstylist, give cosmetology treatment for skin problems and makeup
• Hair stylist can provide services to both male and female. Barbers are specialized in giving treatments to men, performs the activities like shampooing, trimming, cutting, colouring and styling the hairs. They can also provide other services like shaving, scalp treatment.
Educational Qualification:
Hair stylist should complete two year degree course in cosmetology along with basic computer knowledge. After graduation, for working as a hair stylist he or she requires license of state board.
Experience:
Top level salon gives preference to a person who has completed training in cosmetology along with 2-3 years of experience as a hair stylist
License:
After graduation, to work as a hair stylist, you will need license of the state board. State government conducts examination for license; he/she should clear the examination with good marks.
Skills:
Hair stylist give service to clients, he should have interest in this field, listening ability and good communication skills. He should have keen interest in studying new products and services that are used in dressing hair.
Hair stylist should take pleasure in working among people and hold sociable character. To develop these skills, in cosmetology course some schools are also providing subjects, which are related to develop an interpersonal skill that guides to the person how to behave with a client.
